Name: Fusae Umezono
Age: 22
Birthdate: March 25th, 1989
Gender: Female
Occupation: Full-timer at Souzai Daigaku.
Class: N/A
Personality: Fusae is more than a bit rough around the edges, and still tends to intimidate most people she comes across: it's a habit that's hard to break. Years of living the rough life has put that certain swagger in her step, an air that tells others to back off, and a fierce temper. She's softened up since coming to Inaba, what with working an actual job that requires people skills and trying to move on from her past, but Fusae is still formidably dominant. At least she knows that the best way to influence is through one's actions, and works hard to earn the trust and respect people give her.
Under that sharp exterior, however, she's still... well, she's still just as scary, but she never said that she wasn't, did she? Obstinately independent, she will go to nearly any length to avoid admitting weakness, making her quick to brush off any sort of mishap and not take it seriously enough. To tell the truth, she doesn't care about herself so much as those she surrounds herself with; misfortunes that occurred her friends and followers struck closer to her heart than anything else (if it just so happened to be caused by another person, the problem was dealt with quickly and without fuss). Where she really shines, though, is in the middle of a fight or struggle, as she's surprisingly quick in her thinking when her adrenaline's pumping, and she trusts her own instincts and body far more than your average person.
Fusae knows that kicking up a fuss rarely accomplishes everything, and is the first to chastise someone who would rather sit back and complain rather than come up with a solution. She's willing to accept nearly anyone who she sees trying hard enough and is, for all purposes, a pretty decent person -- in fact, she's almost a little too trusting, and it doesn't take long for someone to be considered part of her little "family". And when they do try and upstage her? They better know what the hell they're doing, otherwise she won't back down without an argument. However, for all her shortcomings, Fusae's determined to make something of herself, and for once she's going the straight-and-narrow. Even if that means going the route of food service, she's not going to back down (mostly because it's going to keep her out of more trouble with the police, but whatever).
It should be noted that she speaks in rather strong Kansai-ben, which is hell enough when serving customers in Inaba, but when she gets riled up it can be a bit difficult to make out most of what she's saying. Unfortunately, she sounds far too stilted when she attempts to switch to standard Japanese to be of much use when dealing with foreigners. Fusae also has free use of her cousin's husband's old truck: a little Toyota diesel pick-up that's at least several years old, which means she'll probably be stuck giving rides for the sake of investigations and missions. She's also spent so long serving steak that she can't even stand to eat the stuff anymore.

History:
Hailing from Namba district in Osaka, Fusae grew up in a fairly normal family (although her father, who worked on the local merchant trading boats, was away more often than not), and spent much of her time studying and daydreaming. Really, she was an exceptional, if slightly withdrawn, daughter, up until her first year of junior high. What started as a couple upperclassmen bullying Fusae around lead to the member of a neighborhood yankee group scaring them off for good; Fusae clung to the girl, Otoyo Magaribuchi, and pretty much hero-worshipped the headstrong upperclassman despite Otoyo's insistence that Fusae's tormentors merely got in her way while she was having a bad day. Fusae grew on her, though, and was eventually introduced into the group of girl delinquents, where she flourished.
By her last year of junior high, Fusae had already changed completely, and spent more and more time away from home. She got picked up by the police a few times, skipped a couple classes, became increasingly estranged from her parents in favor of her new "family", and moved up along the ranks in what had now become a gang. After three years in the crew, and the arrest of their previous leader, Otoyo took control of the gang and Fusae was her right-hand woman.
Fusae barely met the minimum requirements to graduate high school, and by then had practically all but moved out of her family's house. She raked in some money through pachinko parlors and amateur night fight clubs in the shopping districts, preferring that to the gang's regular rounds of mugging commuting businessmen; she eventually scraped together enough money to split a small apartment with a few girls from the gang, and basically spent her post-highschool life hand-to-mouth.
And that's when she met Mochisuke Kimura -- a bokuzoku member whose gang had migrated from the next town over, the initial tension between the two developed into a rather tumultuous head-to-head relationship that by all means was doomed to crash and burn from the very start. They dated off and on for the better part of a year before Fusae (in what she calls one of her rare moments of utter overemotional stupidity) accepted his marriage proposal. Nothing good came out of it, despite Mochisuke's initial promise to make something of himself for them, and it didn't take long after for the relationship to fall apart completely out of explosive arguments that resulted in the neighbors calling the cops on them -- neither of them pressed charges, so they were eventually released on the basis of settlement of a restraining order and a hefty bail.
Fusae was determined to wipe her hands clean of Mochisuke and everything that reminded her of him, but found it impossible to do so while so involved in the running of her childhood gang. She declared her intent to leave, took her beatings, and returned to her parents' doorstep in hopes of apologizing and a possibly tear-filled reunion. She was promptly kicked right back out the door and instead contacted one of her cousins, determined to obtain some sort of "normal" life and knowing that she had no hope of that while still in her Osakan hometown. With this in mind, she left for Inaba, and took up work in her cousin's grilled steak stand, Souzai Daigaku, in the shopping district a little more than a month before Mitsuo Kubo was arrested for the murder of Morooka.
When the local Inaba news station decided to hold a special on the recent spree of closings in the shopping district, Fusae was the one of the few who were interviewed, and was soon kidnapped: the only other victim besides Mayumi Yamano who wasn't of highschool age.
Fusae's "dungeon" is a twisted, bloodstained version of the shopping districts of Osaka that she caused so much trouble in. Her shadow (who makes a very nice case while menacingly swinging a blood-spattered metal baseball bat around) insists that what Fusae's doing, by trying to run away to join "normal" society, is a waste of time, and the complete opposite of who she is inside (being too wild, too resistant of authority and society as a whole) -- that she really belongs with her gang "family", even if she turned her back on them and ran away -- not to mention that living off of the kindness of her cousin in exchange for working at the stand only means she's willingly crippling herself.
Fusae is open as a social link, and can be completed during the evening once she's off from work on weeknights. A moderately high courage (of at least 4) is required, as confronting an irritated Mochisuke while he's looking for Fusae (with a letter from her arrested friend and former leader, Otoyo) is the flag.
