She was amazed that the last few nights were not plagued with nightmares of a mad scientist's guarded, irradiated labyrinth, but graced with the most satisfying hours of sleep she had experienced in a long time. Her mind had been blown and her ideas about the case were shot, annihilated into small pieces just because she felt like staging an interview on television to prove a small, nagging little idea. Perhaps Naoto needed to listen to her gut more often from now on, because it had just let her stumble upon the largest secret of the case.
She was given little time to really actually think about what had happened- really, she found herself screaming at a doppelganger that was about to reveal the terrible truth, and the next thing she knew, she was awakened and was forced to stare down and accept the demented, crazed creature that had been chasing her around in the television. It really wasn't a dream, was it? She was given little time to rest, however- she had been disturbed when she noticed that one of her rescuers in particular- Souji Seta- seemed scarred and battered... but from what? She had heard of a recent incident that caused Detective Dojima to go into a rampage, but was it connected to his nephew...? She could only deduce that such a thing was obvious logic. Naoto was left to ponder and let theories run through her head as she absent-mindedly examined different types of soy, determining that she should use this appointment as an excuse to perhaps do the grocery shopping for her grandfather. Needless to say, thanks to recent events, she was less than pleased when an amused worker approached- a quick scan told Naoto that she appeared to be in her teens, probably from Yasogami, most likely a part-time employee that was just in this for some money to pocket... ugh. She shook her head- did she really have to analyze everything?
"Well, hey... sir... uh... miss. Can I help you with anything?"
Rumors proliferated so... quickly here, Naoto thought bitterly, awkwardly fixing her tie as she used the deepest tone she could properly access.
"I'm fine searching for simple produce. Please try to not be so obvious in your attempts to taunt and goad me."
Naoto shook off the scowl on her face that she could see reflected as the irritated employee quickly fled, the cheerful lights and monotonous, upbeat music of Junes becoming nothing but white noise in her ears. She was long used to urban surroundings and the hustle and bustle of a tense workplace- filtering out unnecessary things had become something she was far, far too good at... she. She hated thinking of herself as that dreaded word, the detective sighing and glancing down at her turquoise shirt with much more skepticism and shrewdness then she had before. Would she have been found out anyway...? Why did this have to happen now, of all times...? Why did it really matter so much?
Her heart sank, only to be roused by a sharp, ever-warm presence that suddenly emerged in the back of her head. It said nothing, but she could almost understand it, as it giddily attempted to send a spark of hope to its master. Was this a Persona...? Was this what Souji-senpai had explained to her so carefully and precisely after that odd stuffed bear gave her a pair of glasses? Perhaps this was why he had requested for her to be her after school today... it seemed the longer it was suppressed, the more fiery and agitated it became. ...It? This thing was part of her. Why was she treating it as if it was nothing?
Racking her brain for information and logistics as she slowly strode over to the electronics section, wearily glancing at that particular, gargantuan television, it struck her faster and with more vigor than a bolt of lightning. ...Sukuna-Hikona. Yes, that name sounded... right. It sounded perfect, and the presence in the back of her head giddily agreed. What was the point of this, anyway...? A training session? How did one... train? She had heard small excerpts of how this so-called Investigation Team fought the bizarre Shadows, but she still questioned the plausibility of it.
She saw that small insect emerge from her Shadow, her own self contorting into a completely different being. How did one... fight using their own personality?
Dear god. This was going to be much more confusing than she thought... sighing as she stared at her watch, Naoto decided that for now, she'd trust her senpai when he arrived and try to throw logic out the window.
