The clouds are out, which was a good thing. As long as it wasn’t the blinding sun, Camillia didn’t really mind sitting in an open-aired eatery. In fact, she didn’t know why Satonaka decided that it would be good to hold an introductory session here, of all places. The jovial girl had offered assistance in helping her to comprehend the occurrences and happenings of the world beyond the television set, but this hardly seemed like a good choice for a study session venue—from what she saw, anyway.
The half-Russian winced slightly at the smell of food; as much as she was tempted to eat, if she ate now she would ruin her biological clock and she could easily grow hungry when it was nearing midnight. That would mean supper, which means extra costs for an extra meal. She sighed as she fished around for a notebook and pen from her schoolbag. They came here straight after school had ended, having arranged a date and time beforehand—well, at least the food court was empty around these times. Camillia could tell why they chose this spot as their meeting place. It was a good choice, as much as she wanted to deny it.
In all honesty, Camillia wanted no part in this crazy affair of ethereal monsters and entities and battling each other’s psyche, but once again that decision was out of her own reach, as well. After all, she did almost got herself killed by acting rash in Abendroth’s rescue—she figured that there was no harm equipping herself with more information than what she had now.
And Satonaka happily offered that service, much to Camillia’s inner delight. She was a simple and easily read person; she would have no problems dealing with the tomboy. But… A food court? Camillia sighed again, holding back her appetite and opened her notebook on the table, the pen placed neatly next to the book, waiting for Satonaka to finish buying her food. Since young, the redhead was trained to be patient and tolerant, so such a short wait was more of an ordeal for her stomach than her patience.

As soon as Chie had mentioned to the rest of the team that she'd be happy to try and catch Camillia up on the goings-on with the TV world, she'd had a feeling that she'd just been the butt of a joke. Was there a need for them to try so hard not to laugh? Really? Even Yukiko giggled a bit, and Souji had quickly looked away when she sent a pointed glare his way; Naoto had just stared at her and... well, forget Yosuke.
But as much as it annoyed her, it also made her all the more determined to be the best darn Investigation Team Welcoming Committee ever! She payed waaay more attention than they thought, anyways. Sure, she wasn't nearly as smart as Souji or, as if it would be possible for anyone, Naoto, but if there was one thing she was good at, it was helping people ease into new social groups. Food helped that, so Chie had forgone her usual steak plate and instead had gotten a large order of fries and some bottles of water to share with the foreigner, and was now making her way back to the table. She smiled widely, hoping that it'd help whatever nerves Cam had to have, what with prepping herself like she was going to be tested on it all. This was shadow-butt-kicking, not finals!
"Heeere we go!" Chie put the fries and the second water bottle down between them, and gave a little wave that indicated that, yes, they were free to eat. Key emphasis on free. She flopped down in her own Junes chair, and propped her feet up on a free one as she unscrewed the top off of her own bottle.
"So! I hope you've been feeling better since Abendroth's rescue. Getting a persona and all... it can be really tiring, you know? And it's probably not going to get any easier, trust me."
Thank god she sounded so cheerful. In the hands of anyone else, that would have just been a huge downer.

The half-Russian tried her best to hide her look of surprise at the tray brought to the table, herself trying to put aside her utensils and stationery to accommodate the tray. She eyed the contents with slight interest, observing that there was her portion in it.
... Was the bubbly woman trying to fatten her or something? Or was the representative of the 'Investigation Team' just tempting her with the offer of food, only to make her pay for what she ate later? Whichever was the case, Camillia's fingers were already reaching for one without her consent and the next thing she knew, it was already in her mouth with minimal resistance. Well, at least it was food. She'll just have to skip dinner later.
"Just because I express interest in the subject does not mean I agree to help you people," she muttered, folding her arms once a few fries went down her throat and leaning back into her seat. She wasn't... used to settings that were related to casual socializing, whether it was for a cause or not. What she knew could only be applied in formal meetings and gatherings; how would she even communicate with them? It wasn't as if she knew them.
"...I apologize for my rudeness, Satonaka-san, but I honestly do not know most of you. Had you not have problems when it came to teamwork and cooperation?" the redhead pointed out, and it was true.

"Oh! No, nonono that's not what I meant at all!" Chie couldn't help the way she jumped back in her chair, or her frantically waving hands. "You don't have to! ...Not like the offer isn't open to you or anything, but if you'd rather not that's fine, too!"
Whoops. Five minutes in and already...
Well, Camillia was just one of the shy types, probably. Or, at least not very social (not like she was probably making this any easier). Best to be honest then, right? Of course it was, so Chie did her best to calm herself down, or at least to the point where she wasn't flailing.
"I know you don't really know any of us, and I understand that. Really, none of us knew each other that well until this whole TV-deal," she paused to play with the hem of her sweatshirt, even though she fought to keep her eyes focused directly on Camillia's.
"But when people just kept on being shoved in there, and you know how to help them and that there are others who also can... I know I couldn't just sit by and watch that happen again, and the people who help us feel enough of the same to put that aside. You learn a lot about each other that way, and about yourself--" She cut off with a blink, rather surprised at herself. There she went, rambling again...
It was probably more rude for her to just go sounding all sappy like that, or a very clever selling tactic, but she didn't recognize the possibilities of the latter. "B-but, you know, it's hard to make friends unless you put yourself out there one way or another. You don't have to around pulling people out of dungeons or whatever, but we aren't going to turn anyone away."
Much less someone the IT had rescued, themselves.

This girl was a natural when it came to conversing normally. The eye contact, the enthusiasm--those were traits that made one enjoyable to talk to. Unable to suppress a smile, Camillia let a small one slip onto her face as she observed the other all this while. "My apologies for making you feel uncomfortable, Satonaka-san. It would seem that I have not entirely come to terms with the knowledge of the existence of ethereal fighting spirits and a world beyond our television sets," she admitted, reaching for her own water bottle. For someone who had been looking at nothing but reality all her years, it was something that she found hard to believe.
"Perhaps a summary of what you had figured out so far would work as a fine explanation-- The only thing I know from that was... the TV was an entry point to a fogged realm... And someone was pushing random people into the TV?" she muttered, frowning as she lowered her gaze to stare at the fast-cooling fries, instead. It was pretty rude to stare for too long.
The frown was etched on her face for a long while after that, her thoughts bringing her elsewhere, reminded of her last brief meeting with her mother. It wasn't entirely an enjoyable meeting. Not at all.

Oh man, when Camillia put it like that, Chie had to wonder why she had been the one volunteered for this. Souji was definitely more in the know about these sorts of things, or Yosuke, or Naoto, or... or even Oshiro-sempai was much better suited for this, right? Well, more the reason for her to try harder, and it wasn't like she couldn't use the brush-up, herself.
"Uh, well," she started, grabbing a fry as a means of distraction. "That's definitely... one way to put it. I admit, it seems really far-fetched, so I don't blame you at all. I didn't believe Souji at all at first, even when he stuck his head in the TV." And said that it was really quite spacious inside, why didn't her and Yosuke come over for a peek...
That wouldn't do for convincing, though. She shot the foreigner a modest grin around a mouthful of french fry, and did her best at mentally organizing what had happened. "Well, that's kinda the gist of it. The first two victims were Ms. Yamano and Konishi-sempai, back in April, and it didn't take long for us to realize that the Midnight Channel was connected to it. Whoever's pushing people in, they know that the people inside can't get out and can die from what's in the TV, and that's been their... method."
Naoto had explained it much better, and with a much better vocabulary, one that probably suited Camillia's overly-formal speech more.
"And you've seen the inside. People just ended up accidentally making their own dungeons in there, and attracting shadows, so it's up to us to make sure we get them out of there -- and face their shadows too, if that's what it takes -- before the fog rolls in in the real world and the shadows in the TV world go crazy. That's pretty much all there is to it, when it comes to what we do, aside from trying to figure out who's been behind it. I mean, I'm not the smartest one in the group or anything, but the TV world's a huge mystery, even to Teddie." And who would know it better than him?

"...And assuming duty to save whichever victims that were thrown in as your mission objectives, you risk your lives to save someone that you do not even know..." Camillia contemplated deeply at the situation at hand, thinking through whatever Satonaka had told her of up until then, relating her words with the things that she had seen first-hand. There was no way she could deny it all as a fairy tale now... She had too much facts to turn them down.
Unceremoniously wiping her hand on her uniform to clean the french fries, she took up her waiting pen and notebook and scribbled down notes. Arranged in bullet points, they were all in Russian for her mother tongue practice, as well as to keep the contents unknown to any normal stranger. Camillia figured that it would be best that way; then she could mix happenings from the new realm and the current life she was in as personal notes. Carefully, with neat blocked letters, she noted down a few of the names Satonaka mentioned-- after all, she didn't know the whole group individually as yet.
Almost as an afterthought, she wondered if Abendroth was all right... Perhaps she could pay her a visit after this one. It wasn't as if she had anyone waiting for her at her home, anyway.
"... But I see that you have much enthusiasm when it comes to this matter," she spoke, putting down her pen and putting aside her notebook before reaching for another stick. "How do you preserve your jovial attitude? I would like to learn that," she joked casually.
