Yukiko wasn't sure what time it was, except that it was late, and her camp uniform was not cutting it in the summer breeze. Being in the tent with Chubby Mcsnore's a lot, and being hungry, had been bad, but now they were out here, walking around, trying to find the boys tent, and probably going to get expelled if King Moron found them.
She had her arms curled around her stomach, walking a few feet behind Chie as they made their way through the darkness, stopping whenever they thought they heard someone nearby. It was really hard not to talk, and every time she stepped on a twig or felt a branch in her hair she wanted to squeal out in protest. It wasn't fair. She didn't Do wilderness.
Plus there was the lingering guilt of Kanji having stumbled into their tent, which had resulted in his sudden unconsciousness and their need to evacuate. She could rationalize leaving the tent to get away from Hanako, but she did feel a bit guilty about leaving poor Kanji there.
Not that there was enough room for the four of them, not by half.
A branch poked her in the side, causing her to make a surprised little noise and spin around...which let her eyes fall on the boys tents, a short distance away from them.
"Over there, Chie," she reached out to put her hand on her best friend's shoulder, pointing where she thought they had to go. And then she tugged her hand away and let out a little sigh.
"I can't believe we did that, Chie. Poor Kanji-kun..."

It had been a hard choice of what was worse: braving the dark, wooded, campgrounds of the mountain, or huddling in the corner of a cramped little tent while Hanako slept (a much... gentler way to put it than was humanly possible) and with a formerly-irate Kanji having been knocked-- ... fainted dead away. Yeah. Fainted. It happened, especially when you were subjected to Hanako in her full glory, right? Sure.
And that left them now, tromping through the brush with Chie leading the way like some out of place adventurer (she needed a machete, that'd be both useful and look pretty cool, she had to admit. And one of those fancy helmet-hats, like in the movies.) and poor Yukiko trailing behind. Well, better for Yukiko to be out here than to handle both Kanji and Hanako when either one of them woke up; at least Hanako's snoring HAD to have scared away anything really dangerous, so they had that going for them as they picked their way between tents. This was the lesser of two evils.
"Huh? Oh. Oh! Yeah, sure, they won't mind!" Mystery Food X was an overstatement on Yosuke's part, the big whiner he was. Besides, Souji never turned them away, ever. Ever.
Chie followed Yukiko's lead towards the boys' tents, shooting her friend a look that said only one thing: Mooroka. Thankfully you couldn't hear him anywhere nearby now, but just give it a minute and then it'd be too late. She did feel a bit silly sneaking through the campgrounds like this, but it was much better than being caught.
"Kanji-kun will be fine! He's a tough guy, he's taken worse. Besides, he shouldn't be scaring people like that." She paused, eyeing the identical tents a little more carefully. "We can make it up to him later, if you want to -- but for now, which one do you think is their tent?"
Probably the one with the most whining about bugs and dirt and poor cooking coming from it. All you had to do was just listen a little harder for it.

Presently, oblivious to the movement outside their tent, Everyone's Favorite Transfer Student was leaning up against a rock-shaped protrusion on the tent floor, legs crossed, hands folded, a thoughtful look on his face. To look at him, the typical Yasogami student might imagine Souji Seta was wrapped up in unraveling the mysteries of the universe. Or perhaps scrolling down a list of his social engagements. Maybe even trying to think of a way he could take out the pretty blonde from first year in the same weekend as the busty brunette in class 2-1. However, Souji was doing none of the above.
Instead, he was listening to his best friend whine.
Kanji-this, hunger-that; roaches-here, spleen aches-there. Souji started out with gently worded appeals to Get-The-Fuck-Over-It, but Yosuke seemed to take these as encouragements rather than the desperate pleas to shut up that they were. It didn't help that he kept coming back around to Kanji, gesturing emphatically how Souji should be grateful that Yosuke had so nobly saved their skins from certain molestation.
The fact that Souji and Yosuke had been molesting each other semi-regularly as of late didn't seem to enter his friends head. Hypocrite.
Sure, they had their rules. No kissing on the mouth, no dates, no PDA, and never -- ever -- anything that might be construed as "making love". Yosuke had shuddered elaborately when that rule had first been made, spitting out he words as if they burned his throat. Souji had agreed, but still. It stung a little.
"You think Kanji-kun made it alright?" Souji asked, cutting of Yosuke mid-gripe, "I thought he'd be back by now."

Yosuke was not pleased. Everyone else was having a great time, and he was hungry and miserable. Those girls couldn't cook a damn thing to save their lives and now his insides hurt. And that damn Kanji... Okay, sure it was a pretty dick move to complain about Kanji's supposed interest in men when he was fucking Souji regularly, but damnit, that was just for practice. It meant nothing. Well... maybe a bit, but nothing like love, and Yosuke sure as fuck wasn't gay. Hell no.
"I hate this, partner. I can't wait to go swimming tomorrow morning and then go home and eat some real food." And maybe he was just a little excited about seeing Souji shirtless somewhere other than their respective rooms.

Yukiko was doing a surprisingly good job of being quiet as they moved between the tents, though she still had her arms wrapped tightly around her. But the sticks were mostly gone, so she wasn't stepping on things and attracting too much attention.
She was still having trouble not talking, though.
It was, in fact, whining that drew her eye to one of the tents she was pausing, and she stood there, listening carefully, her head tilted slightly to the side until she heard the familiar faintly nasal noise of Yusuke complaining about wanting to go home. It wasn't exactly surprising...and it was a sentiment she could understand...But still.
"Chie, here." She whispered to her friend, pointing at the tent she was standing next to. And then she reached a hand out, as if she were going to knock on the fabric, before she paused and giggled at herself.
"Souji-kun, are you guys in there?" She whispered, immediately regretting it...but she was sure it was the right tent anyway.

Bingo! She moved quickly and quietly over the straggly grass and beaten dirt of the campsite, following Yukiko to impatiently wait outside the tent. It would just be their luck to get this far and then have Morooka find them, probably drawn by the same whining that had told the girls where to find Souji and Yosuke to begin with. Either that or Yukiko's giggling, which Chie discreetly rolled her eyes at this time, glad that the dark managed to hide it from her friend.
"Let us in," Chie whispered as well, dropping into a crouch so she could at least hide better among the rest of the tents. She reached up to tug on Yukiko's hand again, hoping that her friend would get the hint to hide down lower with her, at least until Souji let them in. "Come on, before Morooka comes by again!"

"Yeah," Souji mumbled, inspecting his cuticles boredly. He was in the middle of working out a tactful way to strangle the last breath out of his best friend when a distinctly...Amagi giggle made itself known outside their tent door.
This evening just went from bad to potentially expulsion-worthy. Brilliant.
Souji sighed, getting to his feet. It could be worse, he reasoned. At least it would give him a break from the endless stream of whine, the ashen boy thought grimly as he zipped open the tent door as quietly as he could. He was instantly met with the sight of Chie crouched down like a frog, holding onto Yukiko's hand while the hand owner in question looking red from either embarrassment or suppressed laughter. Both were equally likely.
"C'mon, get in," Souji whispered, ushering them in after taking a moment to recover from the odd sight, "How--no--why are you guys here?"

Yosuke's complaining was cut off by what could only be Yukiko's giggle. It not only terrified but infuriated him. Not only did he have to deal with a giggling girl that could get him expelled if they were caught, he had to deal with a giggling girl that could get him expelled and had just killed his last chance at getting laid that night. Usually Yosuke had no trouble charming Souji into messing around, but they couldn't with Yukiko and Chie (where one went the other invariably followed) in their tent. Not to mention there was a giant fucking rock in there. Glorious.

Yukiko let out a relieved sigh as Souji opened the front of the tent, and she dropped down to scurry in after her best friend, flopping down onto the floor of the tent. But the moment her rear hit the floor she sort of squeaked in surprise and shifted left, staring at where she had sat first.
"There is a rock under your tent." She stated helpfully as she finally settled in next to Chie, her voice a hushed whisper...she wasn't sure if Mooroka was outside, after all.
She eyed the tent once she had settled, and had to bite her tongue to keep from saying anything at Yusuke. The sullen look on his face meant that the whispered whining she had overheard had probably been going on for a while, and she didn't want to accidentally start him up again. "Uhm. Hey." She finally said, offering them another smile.

Chie jumped a little at Yukiko's squeak, and hissed a "shh!" at her friend... one that died as soon as she looked over at the other half of the tent. The half taken up by a rock. This had to be the worst tent-pitching job in the history of camping, ever. Who decided to stick a tent right on top of a huge boulder?
"...Well, at least it doesn't snore," she grumbled to herself, Hanako still fresh in her mind.
Nevermind that. She shot the two boys an overly-cheerful smile, one that seemed to strain a little too hard at her face, and attempted to keep her voice light and way-too-forcedly-happy-for-this-time-of-night. "Yo! So uh, nice night, huh?"
Nice night to be Hanako. Or a rock.
