(TAG ALL YASOGAMI STUDENTS =DDD)
Aki wasn't one to normally be on time. In fact, she was often 'fashionably' late. Okay, so maybe it was quite unfashionably late most of the time, but that is not the point. The point is: This time, she's just a bit early. She was waiting outside of the karaoke bar, phone in hand as she studied the numbers on the display panel in disbelief. Early! The term didn't quite... make much sense to her, but here she was--with no one else. And considering she said for everyone to meet outside, it meant that she was the first one there.
Admittedly, Aki was always excited when it came to karaoke. Even if it was on the Sunday before midterms. And even if she hadn't been doing any of that complicated work of getting thrown into a TV or being saved from such, most of the others were. And they were the ones that could use the break the most (or maybe the time to study...?) She was there for... mostly moral support?
The girl checked her phone again, swinging her other arm idly and sending the stuffed frog's long limps flailing in the process. "Wonder when the next person will show up... Or better yet, people had better show up!" She frowned at the railing before her, trying to study the faces of the station patrons that passed around on the level below her.

He knew he was supposed to be studying for midterms. Hell, there was nothing Daisuke enjoyed more than an afternoon spent flipping through pages for quadratic equations while Kou matter-of-factly listed grammar terms without having to check his book. Studying definitely beat out basketball and soccer--
He snorted derisively at the thought as he made his way to the karaoke place. He wasn't exactly the most social of guys when it came to girls (and he'd heard there were going to be several of them), but if it came to belting out songs against cramming all day, he'd take karaoke any day.
He did have a moment of indecision when he approached and saw Aki swinging that frog around, though. After a pause, Daisuke shoved his hands deep into his pockets and gave her an awkward nod.
"Yo."

Despite popular belief, Rise actually wasn't a fan of karaoke.
It wasn't because she didn't like the attention or anything; you came to expect that kind of thing when you were famous and not-so-hard to pick out in a crowd. No, the reason she wasn't a fan was because it seemed too amateur. If she wanted to get far in the music business, it wouldn't be through karaoke.
However, what Rise did like about karaoke was the fact that it gave her an excuse to go out and chill with her friends. There was nothing she loved more then her buddies, especially if it was taking her mind off of school and exams. It also gave her an excuse to drag Naoto away from her silly detective escapades and actually do something a couple would do. Even though she knew Naoto would not appreciate karaoke.
Not that it was easy convincing the Prince to come. Silly girl always seemed to have more "important" things to do. But somehow, some way, she managed to talk her into it, and now found herself with an arm linked with that of the Detective Prince. Rise smiled sheepishly. Poor Naoto. The idol wondered how a girl like her could stick with someone like Rise. It was amusing in the least.
They eventually reached the karaoke bar just a bit before the actual meeting time, it's blinking lights hard to miss by even blind kids. Rise quickly caught sight of Daisuke and Aki by the entrance, and a smile lit her face as she approached. The music playing inside, the flashy lighting, the smells -- Rise grew more excited then she was previously.
She unlinked her arm from Naoto, giving the detective a warm smile before looking to the other two occupants. "Heey. I hope you guys weren't waiting too long or anything. Naoto takes so long to get ready, y'know?"

It was a lost cause. How Kou had ever gotten this far in school was a miracle, really. It had hardly made him feel any better when Souji returned his Fun With Numbers book with a queer look on his face, mumbling something about Mr. Minus being a Negative Nancy. And so he decided to take today as a welcome vacation from studying!
... Not that he'd even really been studying all that intently in the first place, but hey, the only one who'd call him out on his study practices would be Daisuke, and it wasn't like his were much better, either.
Kou's eyes flitted down to his cellphone, snapping it shut once he'd realized the time. He looked back up, eyeing the small crowd already forming in front of the karaoke bar. Speak of the devil... He smiled at the thought, opening his mouth to call out to the group.
"Hey!" Kou moved nearest to his good friend, giving the taller boy a clap on the shoulder. "Pfft, been a hot minute since I last saw you." It may as well have been a minute as far as the others could have been concerned; the two saw each other just about every damn day.

Aki looked away from the railing when she heard the gruff voice call her. "Ah, Daisuke-kun!" she called back with a grin. "I didn't expect you to arrive without Kou-kun." She gave him a grin, having to look up to see his face. "I'm glad that you decided to come! That must mean Kou-kun is coming also." Aki laughed, locking her hands behind her back.
when the other two figures approached, a gleeful smile spread across Aki's face. "Rise-chan! And you managed to get Naoto-kun to come along after all~" she shook her head. "Don't worry! I got here just a bit ago, so we're still waiting on a few more people before we can go inside." When Kou showed up, the girl gave him a grin in return for his greeting. Of course he would show up just after Daisuke. "Well, let's just wait another ten minutes or so for the others before going in!" She glanced between the four students. Aki didn't know thanthat well, especially the two first years, but they were friends with her friends, so that worked just fine for her!

Karaoke wasn't one of Yosuke's favorite time-wasters, but anything to get away from his textbooks for a few hours was just fine with him. And he got to harass the runt! Since meeting Kastle, one of his (and Souji's, though in a different way) favorite past-times was to bother the first year incessantly.
Said first year currently had Yosuke's hand firmly gripping his jacket and shirt, rendering escape impossible. Kastle was scowling very impressively, but it didn't put his senpai off in the least. Yosuke loved torturing him, and Souji was forever treating him like he was a child, just because he was small.
"Hi guys!" Yosuke called happily when they came close to the group. "I brought a midget!"

"This is stupid."
Souji was not happy with the turn their study session had taken. He liked to cut loose as much as the next guy, he really did, but midterms weren't the joke Yosuke seemed to think they were. And hell, why stop at Yosuke, he could see Kou and Daisuke here too. And Rise. And Aki. And...Naoto!?
He was the only sane one left. That had to be it. Walking behind Yosuke and Kastle (who should really be studying, not roped into Yosuke's madness -- he was just a kid, after all), hands shoved deep into his pockets, he looked at the others sourly, "So just whose idea was this, anyway?"

Kastle had never wanted to kill anyone more in his entire life. It wasn't enough to be dragged to the city with Hanamura-senpai, oh no, he had to go to karaoke with him and his crazy friends. He just hoped and prayed that Seta-senpai would not get it into his head again that Kastle was a child and should be treated as such.
"Senpai, can I go home? I'm really not into or good at this kind of thing. And I don't know these people."

"... 'the hell am I doing here?"
A small sigh left Kanji's tense lips, as he stood silently and still across the street from the karaoke building where his newfound friends were congregating. He was grateful for the invite, so much that he'd had trouble keeping his level of excitement hidden from the others when he was asked, but he'd never been to karaoke before. To be honest, he never really listened to any music at all, so he had no idea whether he could sing or not.
He was also feeling nervous about seeing the group in such a setting. Most of his previous interactions with them had been during their missions into the TV, where the main focus was kicking ass and saving people. Here, they were meeting to chill out and have fun, something Kanji was not sure how to do with other people. As he shifted from one foot to the other, he looked across the street at the faces of the growing group. There were a few he didn't recognise, and he felt his nervousness grow as he realised he would have to do the whole 'meet and greet' thing with them.
Something inside his stomach was telling him to just turn around and go home, or even run back to the Steamy Bathhouse for refuge. That would be a hell of a lot easier than this evening was going to be. But, his head told him to just suck it all in and walk across that street, say hello and just enjoy the ride. Or at least try to. He was beginning to get cold anyway. Vests were not practical attire for autumn skulking.
Kanji drew in a loud, deep breath, lifted his head high, slipped his hands into his jean pockets, and started out from his place of refuge, walking with the most manly swagger he could muster. He spotted Souji, and decided to make his way casually to him first; a friendly face and understanding mind would sure help right now. As he neared him, he nodded slightly.
"Sup everyone," he spoke gruffly. "D'I miss anything?"

Why... did people not seem like they were excited? Or they were, but mostly just the chance to skip out on studying most likely. But she kept the grin on her face when more and more people showed up. Even if they complained about it, they still showed up, right? And that's the part that mattered the most to her. Getting together with a bunch of friends (or, well, acquaintances in some cases) to hang out never turned out bad. And she had a feeling that everyone would work itself out.
Souji, however, really looked like he wasn't enjoying it. And when he asked whose plan it was, Aki shot her hand into the air. "Oh, oh, me! It was my idea!" Then she pointed at the short boy, who looked even more miserable than Souji. "And you, Chibi-ko! You will remain here! And sing at least two songs before we'll consider letting you leave."
She gave Kanji a grin when he approached, but turned her attention back to her cell phone. Kazuki was rather late. And just like it wasn't her to be early, it wasn't like him to be this late. Aki couldn't help but frown. He was really her one connection with everyone--all the others were connected either through their Persona abilities or sports teams and that made her feel a bit like the odd-one-out. Besides, he promised her that he would hang out with her this weekend, so where was he?!

Originally, Kazuki had made sure to leave early. He got everything ready hours before he needed to, he baked a few cookies as a thank you for the cookies Aki had given him the other day, and he even took the early train. However, while waiting he remembered how traumatizingly unclean the bathrooms the were at the karaoke place the last time he had gone there with Aki. He just decided to find the nearest actually clean bathroom before anyone else showed up. Unfortunately, that was easier said than done. Fourteen bathrooms were stepped into before he found one actual usable. Fourteen. Who knew Okina was in such a great need of hard-working janitors.
The black-haired boy sighed to himself as he quickly hurried back to their meeting spot, glancing at the time on his cream-colored cellphone. Late. He hated being late. There were several school days he missed, because he would've rather not shown up at all instead of being late. This was a little different since it wouldn't be as awkward, but that didn't mean he like it any better. And, of course, when he finally got to where he needed to be there was already a small crowd of the other students there. Souji, Yosuke, Kou, and Daisuke from year two, and Rise, Naoto, Kastle, and Kanji from year one. He gave all of then a friendly smile and wave. It was great to see that so many people actually showed up even though a few were still missing.
Then, Aki. Kazuki gave a quick bow of apology to her, hoping that she hadn't been waiting too long. "Sorry, I'm late, Aki-chan. I was here earlier, but I was... helping someone carry their bags to the train," he lied with a nervous smile. There was no way he was going to admit that he had really been searching for a clean bathroom for the past twenty minutes.

The group was split into several smaller groups, with pairs talking amongst themselves and Kanji stood in silence for a while, trying to listen to the conversations and pick out one he could enter easily.
"So you're the one we have to blame for this evening?" Kanji replied to Aki, a little too much sarcasm and discontent in his voice. "Uhh, I mean thanks."
But, he was not too great at this socialising thing, and without realisiing he began tapping his foot impatiently. He let his eyes drop to the floor and he stared blankly. It really was going to be a tough night. At least everything was in order back at the shop, he didn't need to worry about preparing anything for tomorrow.
A new voice signalled the arrival of another arrival, and Kanji turned on the spot to see a dark haired 1st year kid hurriedly shuffle over to them. Kanji recognised his face from school and some of the other meetings, but he was bad with names. Especially with all of these new ones to remember all of a sudden. The guy was nice, he always seemed a bit stressed to Kanji, but he was a good kid. Kanji watched him stop with the group, and then looked to Aki as he spoke to her.
"That's bullshit!" Kanji said loudly, knowing that the guy was lying.
Again, the words came out far more harshly than he had meant, and he shifted uncomfortably on his feet.
"But, at least you're here, right dude?" Kanji forced a weak smile. It was going to be an extremely tough night.

Souji's eyes turned on Aki as the girl piped up enthusiastically. Mouth tight and eyelids half drawn, the quiet second year managed to communicate his utter lack of surprise at her statement. Of course it was Aki-chan. She was fun and bubbly to a fault. 'Fault' being the the crucial word. Raking a hand through his hair, he glanced over at Kastle, then back to Aki. She redeemed herself for the cute nickname. If only slightly.
"Does that go for the rest of us too? And does the Junes jingle count? I can singing that one right now." Souji paused, realizing he didn't know any other songs under thirty seconds. "Twice, if you want."
Aki didn't seem to hear him. No one did. Why did this always seem to happen whenever a fiasco-waiting-to-happen was in the works? Casting a commiserating look to Kanji, whom he could identify with where karaoke was concerned. Or at least, he assumed he could. Souji could do many things but singing (and dancing) was not one of them. Judging by his kohai's gravely voice that seemed as if it should belong to someone much older, Kanji had the same problem.
"Ouch," he whistled softly to himself under his breath while taking a few stops closer to his friend to speak more privately, "Gotta let people have their fibs, now and again, Kanj."

"Oh hey senpai!" Kanji brightened up a little as Souji approached him.
He owed a lot to this guy, but he never felt like he could ever let Souji know just exactly what he meant to him. He'd tried on many occasions to just say those words, and that's all they were. Words. Just sounds he could make with his mouth, but sounds that meant a lot. "Thank you," he thought to himself. "Nothin' to it."
"Oh... I didn't mean to lay into the guy!" the ray of happiness that Souji brought with him disappeared as quickly as it had appeared. "I just... well you know! The dude was making stuff up!"
His voice was whiny and apologetic, there was nothing he wanted less than to upset Souji. He'd tried so hard to take on all the advice he'd been given by him, but he still didn't feel like he was changing at all.
"So, uhh," he changed the subject, scratching his head awkwardly. "Are you any good?"

"Me?" Souji snorted, closing his eyes as he ducked his head and smiled, "If they ever actually wrestle me onto a stage, stick your fingers in your ears. I...squeak, a little." He added the last part with an unavoidable flush, averting his eyes while rubbing the back of his neck. His smile still remained though. It was nice, having someone quiet to gripe with. In this bunch, finding someone who used words sparingly was akin to picking a needle from a haystack.
"How about you? Going to serenade anyone tonight?" He smirked and tossed a wink at his friend, laughter threatening to bubble past his lips.

Aki's minimum didn't register in Kastle's brain. He was too focused on what she'd called him. Chibi-ko. She'd called him chibi-ko. What, was he a fucking Sailor Senshi now or something? And did she not know that he was the same age as her? Okay, not for another two weeks to be exact, but close enough!
"I-I'm not--! Don't imply that I'm tiny! I haven't started growing yet!" Kastle insisted, folding his arms and pouting a little. Ever since he'd been rescued and faced his Shadow, he'd been a little bit more relaxed with his emotions, letting his childish side come out every once and a while.

Kou had begun rambling and making conversation with whomever would listen; words just came easily to him, regardless of there being ladies in the vicinity (unlike a certain soccer player). When Souji arrived a few steps behind Yosuke and a first year, he restrained the urge to go over to the other boy's side immediately. He'd wait until Daisuke made the first move— ever since the incident back in August, Kou had been more careful with saying hello to Souji too eagerly or too slowly. So for now he just kind of eyed the other boy for another second before giving Daisuke another loving punch to the arm and moving over to the entrance of the karaoke bar,
"Come on, guys," he said, smiling widely and pushing open the door for anyone to enter before him. Unbeknowst to most, Kou was actually something of a karaoke king—if by "karaoke king", one meant he just really liked showing off his terrible singing—and he really was kind of excited for this small meeting. He had a lot of fun in groups like this. The fact it took out from his studying time only made it even better.

Kou's entrance was greeted with no small sense of relief; had his friend not shown up, Daisuke had been considering leaving while the leaving was good. But not only had Kou arrived, but Yosuke and Souji had shown up. He was less familiar with the others, only managing a nod and grin to each and every one of them (and a bit more hesitancy with the females in the group).
"Oh, c'mon," he said now, his grin turning slightly sympathetic as he looked at Kastle. "He may be a midget now, but he'll probably end up taller than the rest of us. Kou's got it right; let's head in."
Something still struck him as odd about the way Kou had been behaving around Souji, and it was one of the few things Daisuke had really paid attention to. If something was bugging his friend, he was going to find out it was. At some point, anyway. At this point, they might as well get this singing fiasco over with, and with that thought in mind, he nudged the newest arrival (the poor guy needed some kind of support from somebody) and jerked his head towards the door.
"Just for the record," he called over his shoulder, taking Kou's offer of the open door and stepping in, "I don't do duets!"

"Serenade?!" Kanji gasped. "What's that supposed to mean? ...Ooh."
Still not used to being at ease with himself, Kanji continued to take things as threats and insults, and also continued to react aggressively and defensively. But, this was Souji here, and from one look at his face, Kanji could tell there was no negative intent meant.
"To be honest," he carried on. "I've never been to karaoke before, and I rarely listen to music. I thought I should come along because... Well, because I was invited."
He was cringing inside at how the words sounded, so pathetic and needy, yet everyday it got easier to say things like it. He began walking forwards as he spoke to Souji, following the group as the entered the building. Instantly they were hit with music from all around them, as dozens of screens and speakers spewed different songs from above them.
"... Aren't these kinda places a little... you know... faggy?" Kanji asked, his eyes and ears trying to take in the busyness around them.
He looked at Souji, a cheeky smile forming across his face at his own remark. "I'm willing to give it a go, though!"

Post by Chie Satonaka on Apr 17, 2009 15:54:36 GMT -5
Of course, of course she would be so totally late. She didn't even have a good excuse for it, either; she'd been going down the shopping district, totally determined to show up early, and then the book store had just had that brand new, special edition, fancy embossed-cover, full-color-photo treasury book of Bruce Lee's career out on display and-- and she'd opened it and didn't snap back to reality until Yukiko had found her nearly twenty minutes later. Well, Yukiko had stood there for a full minute staring at her like the world was about to end (because what book could possibly ever keep Chie's attention like that?) before getting her attention.
Chie totally could have made it on time if she'd just run straight away instead of dragging Yukiko along behind her. As much as she loved her friend, as hard as Yukiko had been working in the TV... it wasn't enough to keep up with Chie's mad dash. Poor girl, too, because Yukiko hadn't even intended to go to karaoke that day, hoping to politely decline the invitation thanks to her mother calling her about helping at the inn. Not like Chie listened to that excuse; showing up late looked bad, but not nearly as bad as showing up late by yourself.
And when you saw your friends already going into the building, why in the world would you slow down? No, if anything, Chie narrowed her eyes and put on that last spurt of speed in her legs, completely focused on that door and nothing else.
Really, it took skill to go from a full run to near-dead-stop only inches from colliding into Kanji and Souji's backs. Yukiko could only tiredly sigh and shake her head as she leisurely followed Chie, shooting Kou a smile that was both practically aching for sympathy and in thanks at his holding the door open as she walked by him.
"Made it! Oh man, you guys, I'm sooo totally sorry I was late, I was just walking by the bookstore and I got really, really distracted--"
"It was a book about martial arts films," Yukiko clarified. It was one thing to shock and awe... just not to that extent.
Chie didn't even catch the undertones of the comment though, and nodded her head as she chattered on. "Yeah, so, but I'm here! And I'll completely make up for it!"

"Not even with me?" Kou replied to Daisuke's claim of no duets. "I guess we might bring the house down with our full karaoke potential." He kept the door open for everyone walking in, nodding when a thanks was thrown his way and smugly smiling like those servants—butlers—he sometimes saw at parties. His family didn't have one, but he'd met enough that did. These families tended to have western-style houses, as well.
It almost felt like someone had thrown a ball of wind at him when Chie stopped suddenly behind Souji and the Tatsumi boy. W-where'd she come from?! his mind screeched to a hault and he looked down in embarrassment, still holding the door wide open for her and Yukiko to pass through. He looked up just in time to catch the latter's smile, presumably for keeping the door open, and he lightly returned the gesture, nodding, before entering in behind them and letting the door shut.
The karaoke confidence he'd had earlier had deflated like an old birthday balloon and now Kou was mostly preoccupied with trying not to follow too closely behind the two girls. The music was loud enough to drown out the little things, but Lord knew Chie would have super hearing and suspect him of trying to smell Yukiko's hair or something.

"Ah, don't worry about that," Souji offered his younger friend, smiling with shared misery, "I've only been dragged out to a place like this once. With that one." The jut his thumb out in the direction of his chatty, animated friend. He seemed to be bouncing from group to group with the enthusiasm of a bumblebee trying to pollinate every flower he could in a matter of minutes. He hadn't made his way over here yet, though...that made Souji frown, a little. Well, a lot.
The cacophony of voices mingling and chatting outside the club had reached something of a fever pitch by the time Daisuke's commanding baritone cut through them like gossamer. The group filed in slowly, trying to keep their conversations going despite the narrowness of the club's door. Souji hung back with Kanji, going in last once the path had cleared some. He gave Kou a brief, somewhat hopeful smile but didn't get the chance to see if it was returned before a sudden scampering of feet and whoosh of breathless gasps appeared literally right behind him. Craning his neck sharply, he practically let out a snort then and there. Yukiko was looking like less of her demure self, hair askew as if she'd gone through a wind tunnel, and Chie looked positively invigorated from the run and their narrow arrival. Souji opened his mouth to speak but quickly thought better of it, shooting them both a 'you're weird' expression before moving further into the club.
Kanji's remark made him thankful that Yosuke had gone in much further ahead than either of them. It was ripe for commentary, to say the least, "I, uh, nah, not faggy...just gaudy, I guess. Nothing wrong with having a little fun, right?"

Aki gave an excited grin when her friend appeared. "Zuki-chii!" she chimed, throwing her arms around him in a hug. "I was be ginning to wonder when you were going to show up!" At Kanji's outburst, she turned around to look at him, a little surprised. But then the expression softened into a smile and she laughed. "I know, Zuki-chii is terrible at lying to me." She fondly ruffled her friend's hair with one hand. "But I let him get away with it anyways." She winked at Kanji.
She hooked one arm through Kazuki's, tugging him behind her as she hurried after the others into the karaoke bar, hitting the tall first year on the arm with her stuffed frog. "You better sing a song for us, Kanji-kun, okay?! To make up for the outburst." She was teasing, of course, but still wanted to see what his reaction would be.
And then Chie arrived, dragging Yukiko along behind her. "Chie-chan~! And you brought Yuki-chan with you!!" Aki separated herself from Kazuki, flocking over to the other two girls. "Chie-chan! You must do a duet with me, okay?" She glanced at Kou and Daisuke as they passed into the karaoke bar. "And you two better do a duet also! We're all rooting for you!" as she said this, she patted her camera that rested against her chest. "Let's have fun, everyone!"
With that, Aki flounced up to the desk to request the room.

Kazuki had happily returned Aki's hug as always, but his expression soon become one of both bewilderment and guilt. Kanji's sudden accusation nearly made him jump out of skin not only because it was true, but also because it was Kanji giving the accusation. By now he really wasn't afraid of the other boy, but it really wasn't difficult for someone with that exterior to startle him. Though... at the same time it was almost like being barked at by a big puppy. Giving a nervous laugh, Kazuki nodded at the boy's latter statement. Was it really that easy to tell when he was lying? He still couldn't figure out how it could've been so easy to see.
He quickly had to straighten a few strands of hair after Aki ruffled his hair, but he had to give a sigh and a nod of agreement. "I should really just give up, shouldn't I?" He really couldn't get away with lying to Aki either. Maybe he was just really bad at it? New project after midterms: become a better liar. It sounded almost sinister to him when he thought it, but it had to be done.
Still smiling nervously, Kazuki walked in with his friend and took a moment to remember his surroundings from the last time they were here, making sure to wave over at the newly arrived Chie and Yukiko. He fidgeted with the strap of his bag for a moment, keeping count of the people there and listening in on the chatter. More second year students. And Aki definitely wasn't the only one that seemed excited about the whole thing, which was a relief. They even had a self-proclaimed Karaoke King! With a group as large as the one they had gathered it would definitely be different this time.
It was going to be... interesting though? He took a step closer to Souji and Kanji while Aki went to the desk. Socializing with the others would probably be a good idea while they had the opportunity. "Right! It's all just for fun, but if you sing off key we'll have to throw rotten tomatoes at you," Kazuki added dryly as a joke. "Most of the people here are pretty athletic, so I'd imagine it could be dangerous." He was trying to look as serious as possible despite the fact he was apparently bad at fibbing.

"Hahah, gaudy!" Kanji laughed awkwardly and much louder than he had meant to. "Absolutely!"
He had no idea what that word meant, or whether his senpai had actually meant to make him laugh, but it seemed like the right way to react. And they definitely were here to have fun after all. Kanji looked around the inside of the building some more as Chie and Yukiko arrived, but he ignored them. Not out of rudeness, but his eyes were fixated on the giant banners strewn from the ceilings of various idols advertising their songs. He looked from one to the next slowly, studying the bright faces and rather underdressed bodies of these famous people, completely unable to name any of them. He felt a presence alongside him and Souji and slowed his pace, whilst he stared open mouthed at one particular banner. A tall, well muscled man stood in front of a microphone, his long dark hair covering one of his eyes, and Kanji slowly let his eyes wander down his naked torso, taking in every bit of detail.
"Whoa, what?!" he snapped his eyes away, looking at the boy who he had yelled at earlier, as his face flushed bright red, and he coughed to try and hide his embarassment. "Tomatoes? You serious?

Raising an eyebrow at the taller boy, Kazuki did his best to pretend not to notice Kanji staring at the poorly clothed attractive singers on the banners. He had heard plenty of jokes here and there, but he still wasn't really sure what to say about his ambiguous sexuality. Normally, he didn't really care either way, but it was a bit awkward to catch him in the act of ogling idols. It was best just not to comment about it, and it wasn't like he really had anything to say. Who would have anything to say? There probably weren't any words that wouldn't come out as either rude or uneasy.
Thankfully, Kanji snapped out of it himself anyway. "N-no! It was just a joke." Kazuki gave another short laugh, wanting to add that Kanji definitely didn't need to be any redder so it was a good thing he was kidding. Well, there was one way to get away with lying. Just catch the person off guard.

"A joke?" still flailing from the giant distractions hanging from the ceilings, Kanji tried to to compose himself. "I knew that dude! Just testing you, you know."
He looked away from the other two as the continued to walk across the lobby of the building. Groups of giggling girls were moving in all directions, and couples were walking happily arm in arm. He suddenly began to feel completely out of place, and slipped his hands back into his pockets. He moved closer to Souji.
"Dude," he said quietly. "I'm gonna stay close to you all night, k?"
Kanji noticed that Kazuki was still near to them, and raised his head in his usual cocky manner.
"Just to make sure you get no trouble!" he spoke loudly, as though correcting himself.

There were just so many people all talking at the same time, that for a moment Chie was a bit overwhelmed. They were all her friends, sure (geez, since when had she gotten so many? For the longest time it had pretty much just been her and Yukiko, because even if she was friendly to many of her classmates they had never been particularly close.), but it still made her head spin a little.
She shot Souji a rather cheeky look while Yukiko gave her polite nod and smile to Kazuki (and looked almost relieved that there would be someone in a situation almost identical to her's.), both girls bouncing friendly Hello's and greetings around the group. Not to mention, who could possibly say no to Aki of all people? Not when she had just roped Chie into issuing a challenge against someone
"Huh? Of course! We'll sing the socks off of them!" Chie punched her fist into the air and grinned at Aki, then back at the two sports team members, all while Yukiko fought back a giggle. "Ooh, should we make the losing pair do something for the winners..?" Typical Chie, making everything out into some much larger contest; it was the easiest way to get her motivated, but she never quite knew when to quit at it.

Daisuke didn't even have to reply to Kou-- the sidelong glance he gave his friend said it all. Not only was doing a duet a bad idea, but a duet with Kou would not only have broken an eardrum or two but also shattered a good few windows, if not all of them. All they needed was the Kanji guy to join in; with a voice as gruff and deep as his, they could probably clear out the entire place in no time.
"I wouldn't worry about this guy," he told the first-year now, his eyes darting to Souji's face for a second. "I think we've all got his back when he's got trouble, if he can't handle it himsel-- wait, what??"
Aki's voice had caught his attention first, but it was Chie's proposal that truly snagged Daisuke's interest. He had been about to firmly state that no meant no when it came to bellowing tunes into a microphone with somebody else, but she had mentioned two vital words: "losing" and "winner". To immediately turn it down meant he lost. And, even if it was singing, competition was competition. There was no way in Hell he could (or would) step down gracefully when it came to something like this!
It would be their own faults for challenging him and risking their hearing.
"Yeah? Well, it just so happens that me and Kou here--" He snagged his unfortunate victim by his collar and leaned against him with a smug grin. "We're pros at this stuff. You wanna take us on, you'd better be prepared to lose. It's a fair prize, too. Whaddya think?" And now he nudged Kou, eyes already alight with excitement. "You game, man?"
