"It's not a bad idea..." Shizuka considered it, trying to picture what Sho's reaction would be if she brought it up to him. A sports competition would at least give both schools a chance to be motivated, but she was uncertain as to whether that would really help achieve a sense of camaraderie or if it would just make the rivalry worse. Also, asking the president to cooperate... it wasn't that Sho was unreasonable, but he could prove difficult at times.
"I'm not a key person to this in any way," she said at last, stretching one arm above her head. "But I'll talk to the president about it and see what he thinks."

"In all honesty, me neither," she replied with a small laugh. "I am only the event organizer. I still need to discuss the agenda with the other committees before I can even work on the proposal-- so I would have to return to school for the idea to work," she shrugged then, feeling the sweat returning and quickly wiping at it with the wet cloth. "But of course, I would need to be informed of the availability of any sports team of your high school--" she stopped. Nakano could easily be a first-year, which could mean that (along with her size) she wasn't a sports-oriented person at all.
"--I apologize. Perhaps I am asking too much from a first-year student. I guess I should just plan for a visit to your high school personally instead," Camillia said, bowing her head apologetically.

It wasn't the first time someone had estimated her age to be younger than it was. It wasn't even the second time. Camillia's assumption was more along the lines of the fifteenth, or the twentieth time, except that those who thought she was still small enough to be in elementary knew better than to ask when they saw her uniform. "First-year" was a lot better than "elementary", but yet again, she was subjected to that well-meaning guess. She didn't even look too young, she was just short!
Realizing she'd been sitting there stricken for quite some time now, Shizuka cleared her throat. "Um, actually," she replied, choosing her words with great care, "I'm a second-year student. I'm also the manager of the basketball team, so while I can't give you any information of the other teams, I can probably help you with that one."

"Oh, apologies," Camillia immediately replied, shifting her perspective slightly. It was sort of amazing that she was of her age with such a small stature, but she was civilized enough to not rub the fact into their conversation again. It was sort of obvious that Nakano had seen the similar scenario numerous times, and the redhead hoped that she didn't mind too much about it. But when Camillia noticed that Nakano had mentioned that she was a manager, she brightened ever so slightly.
"That would be great-- our school has a basketball team, too," Camillia said, delighted. The team captain, Ichijo was her classmate, so it would be easy to get in contact with him if the event really was on. The redhead nodded. "This is good news-- at least for me. It has been some time since I have done anything productive," she said with a slight smile, imagining that the activity behind the TV screen being a productive activity. She immediately dismissed the idea, utterly ridiculous an idea.

"Oh, that's right!" Shizuka placed a fist solidly into her palm, perking up at the very mention of the Yasogami basketball team. "I've met one of their members before, and I've heard they had good players." She'd never had the chance to meet them beyond the occasional game, but she was usually on the sidelines, keeping track of just what was going on, and studying the coach's playbook when she had the time.
"But I know what you mean about productivity," she added, almost as an afterthought. "If we can pull this off, I bet it'll be a lot of fun for everyone!"

"You have?" Camillia said inquisitively, blinking a few times. But that wouldn't come as a surprise if she was the manager of her own school's basketball team-- they could have had rivalry matches held by other external bodies in the past, as well. She eyed Nakano, then, idly wondering if everyone in Inaba was honest like her. It was good to know that people her age were generally simple and naive, but... Was it really safe? Perhaps this was the reason why high-school students were targeted in the recent murder cases.
Correct, recent television cases.
"...What do you think of the recent events? If you get what I mean," she murmured, her expression turning hard. It was safe to assume that the girls' opinions would be a consensus of the public, and Camillia always wondered what view did they have on the matter, since she knew of the truth behind the cases. She wasn't entirely interested in anything beyond her close friends' and her own welfare before that, and couldn't help but want to find more information about the case now.

It was difficult not to fidget, or even shift under the pressure of Camillia's probing stare, but Shizuka's initial nervousness at being the subject of such intense attention faded from existence when she mentioned the newest thing that had been plaguing her mind for quite some time now.
"... The murders, you mean?" She lowered her eyes, her expression troubled. "I don't think what I have to say is going to be any different than what you'd hear from anybody else about it. Everyone's worried that the killer won't be caught, and that the two victims are linked because of that scandal..."
That poor woman. While Shizuka was always on the trail of a new rumor, she'd taken no enjoyment in the amount of coverage the affair had gotten. She could only hope Mayumi Yamano and that secretary had been happy together, but then what of the man's wife? And, before any kind of resolution could have been reached, the announcer had shown up dead.
"I want it to stop," she murmured, "but I get the feeling the two cases aren't connected in the way most people think they are. And if that's true, the police might be going down the wrong path-- oh!"
Shizuka's head shot up and she waved both hands frantically. "But that's just an opinion and I could be totally wrong! I'm not saying that they're doing a bad job or anything!"

Camillia nodded at intervals, showing that she was listening to it intently as she processed the information. Indeed it was the consensus; it wasn't of any useful information, but knowing the psychological state of the local residents would do her good if she were to do anything in the future. "It is sort of unnatural to see that it could have been stemmed from a simplistic scandal," she noted, referring to the same case Nakano had on her mind. "People tend to act irrationally when it came to matters such as these, though I can never understand the subject," Camillia added, then, brow furrowed at the subject of relationships between a man and a woman. But the later cases of the disappearances that she was informed of had nothing to do with the scandal. Perhaps the police were heading in the wrong direction.
As Nakano was furiously displaying characteristics of defensive behaviour, the redhead smiled. "Opinions worth more than facts at times, Nakano-san. After all, the world revolves around peoples' perceptions, and not facts alone."

"Don't I know that..." Shizuka stared bleakly at nothing in particular, more than aware of the truth behind Camillia's words. It was those same perceptions she relied on in order to tell accurate fortunes, and it was the perceptions that had gotten her the labels of "Weirdo", "Freak", and her favorite nickname to date, "Tarot Midget".
She still regretted not having kicked that guy while the kicking was good. If only she hadn't had to buy the tofu that day, she could have...
Tofu....? Wait...
"Aaaaaaagh!" With a wail of realization, Shizuka leapt to her feet, almost tripping over the bench in her rush. "I-I'm really, really sorry, Cami-chan, but I have to get going! I totally forgot to buy the-- wait, you don't need to know that-- I'm sorry!!"
She'd been so caught up in the conversation that she'd completely forgotten that her only real excuse to be outside was to buy some tofu for tonight's dinner (at some point before evening, she'd promised her mother), and she'd stayed out way too long. She'd have to sprint and make a quick selection in order to get home in time.

Camillia blinked at her sudden departure, but said nothing as she waved at the girl running off. Shizuka Nakano, 16-- manager of the basketball club of Inoue Prep. Preparing to write the details and contents of the meeting today into her journal, she unceremoniously took out her pocket pen and scribbled it onto her palm. It was easier to remember that way-- she also took the chance to keep the wet handkerchief in her pocket to avoid soaking her written palm.
"I sure tend to find interesting people in this town-- every time," she smirked, rising from the bench and out into the sun. She made a mental note to bring an umbrella out next time.
